That’s what I was thinking. I chalked Stealy’s behavior up to the fact that parakeets are one of the more recognized birds to mimic human speech. Of course, there was that inkling in the back of my mind that it wasn’t normal behavior, but it was still plausible. I never realized that Silvain actually DOESN’T hear Stealy on Day 1, Page 21 until I reread it. But seagulls? Yeah, that message came in loud and clear, that it’s not just Mace being weird and messing with Silvain.
